Visual Land (VL) www.visualland.net is an eLearning site that provides two services:
- Online virtual labs (vlab) for internet protocol learning. It animates theory, labs, and professional training.
- Online animation authoring tools. Authors can use tools to animate interactive network tutorials with packets, router states. Data can be created manually, or captured from running routers (virtual and physical).
Motivation:
- Network is abstract, distributed, and complex. It takes a long time to learn with traditional vehicles such as classes, labs, tutorials.
- Corporate training is a major market for eLearning. But there is no platform and tools to visualize content.
- Internet is integrated into many industries and driving next wave of social changes. Internet know-how is desirable by people outside networking professionals.
- Web animation technology becomes richer and more flexible. It’s affordable now to visualize network activities.
Goals:
- Make learning complex network protocols much easier by visualizing topology, packets, states, and events.
- Help beginners get to the starting point much faster by visualizing cause and effect relationships.
